Cone Polisher
A cone polisher is a piece of equipment commonly used in the food processing industry, particularly in the production of rice. It’s also sometimes called a rice cone polisher or rice polishing machine. The primary purpose of a cone polisher is to remove the outer bran layer and any remaining impurities from rice grains, resulting in polished and cleaned rice.
Here’s how it works:
- Feeding : Raw rice is fed into the cone polisher.
- Polishing : Inside the machine, the rice comes into contact with a cone-shaped abrasive surface, often made of emery or other abrasive materials. As the rice grains rub against this surface, the outer layer (bran) is removed, giving the rice a polished appearance.
- Separation : The polished rice is then separated from the removed bran and other impurities, usually through a combination of air and sieving.
Cone polishers are essential in the rice processing industry as they not only improve the visual appeal of the rice but also help in removing any contaminants. The quality of the rice, its texture, and its cooking properties can be enhanced through this polishing process.
